  12. amiga 3000 desktop with 68030 @ 25mhz
  13. WD 33C93A-00-08PL scsi chip, Kickstart 40.68, Workbench 40.42
  14. L:CDFileSystem version is cdfs.library 40.11 (09.11.93)

  16. hooked up scsi equipment is:
  17. id#0: SEAGATE  ST31200N (1 gb harddisk, scsi 2)
  18. id#1: CONNER   CFP1080S (1 gb harddisk, scsi 2)
  19. id#4: toshiba cd-rom xm-5301ta (cd-rom, scsi 2)
  20. id#5: epson gt-6500 (scanner, scsi 1)
  21. id#6: hewlett-packard 35470a (dat tape streamer, scsi 2)

  52. scanner and streamer are turned off most of the time. the harddisks and
  53. cdrom are permanent on. my system runs 24h/day as bbs, telephone
  54. answering and fax machine.

  69. using that setup causes every 1 to 3 days a system lockup (mousepointer
  70. freezes) or read/writeerror requester popping up for harddisk volumes. if i
  71. hit the retry gadget the system continues it`s work. not very funny if i`m
  72. not at home...

  74. now i removed the cdrom from the setup...

  85. ...and everything worked fine. if you consider two weeks without a guru or
  86. lockup and 2 gb dat backup plus verify as ok.

  88. now i added the cdrom again and tried several setup variations:
  89. - removing streamer and scanner from the chain - still lockups and errors
  90. - removed the external terminator and terminated cdrom internally - again
  91.   lockups and errors.

  93. and i swapped the cdrom filesystems:
  94. - original amiga dos 3.1 cdfilesystem - lockups and errors and it
  95.   recognises a cdrom in drive only if inserted after mounting cd0:
  96. - asim cdfs 3.5 - lockups and errors
  97. - amicdfs 2.10 from aminet - lockups and errors
  98.  
  99. so, almighty amiga gurus, i ask for help.
